Trevor joined SYm|mETRY Multi-Manager in July 2010 as Chief Executive Officer. Having started his career at Old Mutual within retail product development over 20 years ago, Trevor has since held several senior positions within the group. Most recently he was the General Manager of Product Management, responsible for Investment Services corporate business with R109 billion in AUM, the Group Assurance business with over R1.6 billion in annual premium income, as well as building a very strong mandate management and asset liability management capability for the Old Mutual Life Assurance Company South Africa (OMLACSA). Trevor's previous responsibilities also included oversight of the Old Mutual Actuaries and Consultants business. Trevor has a BSc (Hons) and is a fellow of theInstituteofActuariesand a Health Insurance Associate, as well as a member of theInstituteofActuariesand the Actuarial Society of South Africa. He is the Deputy Chairman of Pro-Active Health Solutions, a health risk management company. He is also a non-executive Director of the Skandia Investment Group Holdings Limited.
Roland joined SYm|mETRY Multi-Manager in January 2011 as Chief Investment Officer (CIO), and is now Head of Customer and Product Management at Old Mutual Multi-Managers. Roland was previously Head of Consulting and a Director of Brockhouse Cooper SA (BCSA), where he created an asset consulting business that now offers a broad range of client solutions. He has consulted to clients with assets totalling over R40 billion, and has worked for a number of well-established financial services companies in South Africa and abroad, including Momentum, Alexander Forbes, Coris Capital and PriceWaterhouseCoopers in London. He is also a published writer in financial media and an accomplished speaker who has addressed audiences at the Asset Allocation Summit and the Africa Cup of Investments. In addition to his actuarial science degree from the University of Pretoria, Roland has passed his SAIFM Registered Persons Exams and CAIA Level 1, and has earned his CFA Charter. Roland also received technical training in holdings-based investment analysis in London at StyleResearch and was trained in manager selection by Brockhouse Cooper Inc. in Montreal.
Dave Mohr is our Chief Investment Strategist and is responsible for providing input to the management of the Old Mutual Wealth Investment Strategies and presenting them to clients, planners, and trustees. In doing so, he supports business development activities on both new business and business retention. Dave also provides investment market and economic input to Old Mutual Wealth's private and institutional clients and is a key media spokesperson. Dave has extensive industry experience in designing investment and advisory solutions for Citadel, where he was a director since 1998. He is also home grown, having worked for Old Mutual for 11 years as Chief Economist from 1987 to 1998. He has become a well-respected and an award-winning economist, having been awarded as Sake24's Economist of the Year in both 1992 and 1999, and as Reuters Economist of the Year in 2009. He holds an MCom in Economics from the University of Stellenbosch. Andrew Salmon was appointed by Old Mutual Wealth to manage the consolidated investment teams of Acsis and SYm|mETRY Multi-Manager, which now form Old Mutual Multi-Managers. Old Mutual Multi-Managers draw on the vast resources, systems and stability of a large investment team. As the Head of Investments, Andrew is well-placed to design and manage the multi-managed investment capability for Old Mutual Wealth, for both private and institutional clients. Prior to this appointment, Andrew was the Executive Head of Investments at Acsis. He has extensive investment experience with an in-depth understanding of portfolio management and the broader investment industry. This has seen him manage a research process, research and analyse local and international companies and fund managers, as well as manage pension funds and various unit trusts. Andrew was one of the founding directors of Coronation Fund Managers and the previous head of STANLIB International. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Economics and BCom (Hons) degree.
Monene, who joined SYm|mETRY Multi-Manager in January 2003, now heads up Equity Manager Research for the selection of equity managers in Old Mutual Multi-Managers' various solutions. Monene started her career as a Performance Analyst at Old Mutual Asset Managers and then worked for Merrill Lynch and Friends Provident in London. On her return she joined TMA, a linked investment services provider, as a Unit Trust Analyst and gained experience in assessing managers and investment houses. Edge Investments subsequently acquired the TMA team and Monene managed wrap fund and fund of funds portfolios. BoE later acquired Edge, and she joined SYm|mETRY Multi-Manager following the consolidation of the Old Mutual, Nedcor and BoE multi-manager businesses. Monene is a CFA Charterholder and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional and a member of the Financial Planning Institute.
Ameer joined SYm|mETRY Multi-Manager in January 2012 and is currently a Portfolio Manager within Old Mutual Multi-Managers. Having started his career in 1998, Ameer has since gained extensive industry experience, working for Metropolitan Asset Managers as a Portfolio Manager, Futuregrowth Asset Management as the Head of Quantitative Research and Peregrine Quant Asset Management as a Quantitative Analyst, among others. His relevant qualifications include a MCom (Financial Management) and a MSc (Engineering). He is also a published writer and has presented at a number of investment conferences. His primary role at SYm|mETRY is the management of the Absolute Return and Fixed Interest Portfolios.
After starting her career as a marketing executive at Investment Solutions in 2003, Andreea joined OMIGSA in a similar role in 2006, but with a focus on retail clients. In 2008, she was employed by SYm|mETRY Multi-Manager to oversee the development and maintenance of SYm|mETRY products. She joined the investment team in mid-2010, where she was involved with manager research within the absolute return building block and was also responsible for the international strategy employed by SYm|mETRY. In September 2011, Andreea was promoted to head up global investments, a role she currently undertakes for Old Mutual Multi-Managers. She is a BCom Honours graduate and a CFA Chartholder.
Stephen currently heads up Hedge Fund Manager Research with Old Mutual Multi-Managers. Stephen, a graduate of Rhodes University, where he studied for his BCom in IT, Economics and Commercial Law, joined SYm|mETRY Multi-Manager in July 2009 to head up the Fund of Hedge Funds business unit. Stephen has been involved in this industry for the last seven years, is a keen participant in the ongoing hedge fund debate, and he consistently participates in publications on the topic. With a keen understanding and enjoyment of portfolio management, asset allocation, manager due diligence and risk analysis, Stephen has his roots in multi-management. Stephen was previously employed at mCubed and Advantage Asset Management and thereafter Worldwide Capital.
Diane, who has 20 years' experience with the Old Mutual Group, joined SYm|mETRY Multi-Manager in January 2005 which is now part of Old Mutual Multi-Managers. Diane started her career with Old Mutual as a Broker Consultant and then accepted the position of Investments Marketing Manager for Investment Frontiers, an investment unit specifically aimed at the affluent retail market. Diane then accepted a transfer to Cape Town as Product Marketing Manager for Investment Frontiers/Fairbairn Capital, before joining SYm|mETRY Multi-Manager as a Business Development Executive. Diane has a BCom degree in Economics, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Wales and is a Certified Financial Planner.
Jo-Ann started her career at Old Mutual in 1997 in the Employee Benefits division where she worked on diverse projects, from Demutualisation and Listing to IT. Jo-Ann moved to SYm|mETRY Multi-Manager in 2000 as Personal Assistant to the CEO and has grown within the business. In 2004 she moved to the CRM and Marketing divisions. In 2007 she was appointed Client Services Manager, responsible for day-to-day client deliverables. Currently Jo-Ann is the Head of Marketing and Customer Support at Old Mutual Multi-Managers. Jo-Ann has a BCom Management degree and has been awarded the Claritas Investment Certificate.
Anita, together with her team of Investment Specialists, manages the investment relationship with our pre-retirement clients. Anita has had 18 years' experience in the financial industry. Prior to joining Old Mutual Employee Benefits in 2003, Anita gained vast knowledge and experience including portfolio management, equity analysis and market research, business development, financial and investment advice/planning. After completing her degree in Business Administration, she studied towards her Stockbrokers exams, thereafter gaining a post-graduate diploma in Financial Planning and Investments, registering as a member of the SA Institute of Bankers (CAIB SA) and the SA Institute of Financial Markets. Her passion for raising the service levels for her clients, feeds her personal mission to continually gain marketing, economic and industry knowledge in order to ensure that she is able to constantly provide the best service possible. Anita ensures that she treats each client individually; understanding and delivering on their needs and working hard to build a relationship of mutual respect and trust. To ensure success, she constantly increases her knowledge by attending various financial courses, attending industry investment seminars and management and specialist development programs.
Kumbu joined SYm|mETRY Multi-Manager in June 2010 as Client Relationship Manager. In 2014, the Client Relationship Management and Sales teams moved into Old Mutual Corporate, but continue to service our clients. Prior to this, Kumbu spent 21 months as the Business Development Manager at ACSIS - with a specific focus on institutional retirement funds, medical aids and corporates - and more than five years at Investec Asset Management (retail) as a Business Development Consultant. Kumbu has a BCom Degree in Financial Management and a National Diploma in Economics from the University of South Africa (UNISA), as well as the Registered Persons Exam qualification from the South African Institute of Financial Markets.
Elna has 23 years' experience in the financial services industry and joined Old Mutual Employee Benefits in 1997 when she moved from the Transnet Pension Fund where she worked predominantly on fund benefit design. Before joining the Transnet Funds Elna was performing scientific research at the Chamber of Mines Research Organization where she explored methane gas behaviour in South African Coal Mines for 3 years. Having joined Old Mutual in 1997 she held several positions within Old Mutual Employee Benefits and subsequently Old Mutual Corporate where she was first responsible for a portfolio of retirement funds as Retirement Fund Manager, then responsible for Key Clients as Senior Account Executive and later as Key Account Manager representing the Old Mutual Group with Corporate clients. In 2011 she moved to Institutional Sales as Senior Sales Consultant and as Sales Manager the next year. At present Elna is in the role of Large Corporate Business Development Executive where she has several teams of energetic staff who are responsible for new business into Old Mutual Corporate from Large Corporate Institutional clients nationally and in Lesotho. Elna holds Bsc and BComm degrees as well as a Higher Education Diploma from the University of Johannesburg, and a Post graduate Diploma In Financial Planning specialising in Retirement Funds, from the University of the Orange Free State. Elna has recently successfully completed the Level 1 Examination of the CFA Institute in the US. Elna is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of companies and active and retired employees. She therefore represents the Old Mutual brand with pride and confidence as Old Mutual continues to deliver best of breed solutions to our all customers.
Imeraan has 22 years' industry experience and joined SYm|mETRY Multi-Manager in 2005. In 2014, the Client Relationship Management and Sales teams moved into Old Mutual Corporate, but continue to service our clients. During his career, he has worked for a number of organisations such as Norwich Life, Fedsure Unit Trusts, Standard Bank and BoE Private Bank. In his previous role, he was Head of Retail Distribution and Sales with BoE Bank. Imeraan was also directly responsible for managing a number of key accounts in his capacity as Private Banker at BoE. He holds a post-graduate qualification from the University of Free State and Diploma in Unit Trust Investment. He is an associate of the Institute of Financial Markets and a member of the Financial Planning Institute.
Semoli is accountable for sales and has 12 years' financial services experience. He joined SYm|mETRY Multi-Manager in 2008 and prior to that, he was a Client Relationship Manager at Metropolitan Asset Management. During his career, he has held a number of positions, including Fund Accountant, Retirement Benefits Consultant and Asset Consultant, among others. He holds a BCom Accounting degree from Wits University and completed a Management Advanced Programme (MAP) at Wits Business School. He also holds Certificates in Investments and Employee Benefits from Pretoria University.
Ts'epo joined SYm|mETRY Multi-Manager in February 2011 as Business Development Executive, based inLesotho. Most recently Ts'epo worked as Resource Mobilisation Officer and later Financial Administration Officer at Economic Justice NetworkLesotho. He also held the positions of Project Manager at Lesotho Youth Federation and Assistant Accountant at both Lesotho Highlands Development Authority and Ministry of Education and Training inLesotho. He started his career in 2003 as the Distribution Officer for Lesotho Highlands Development Authority. Ts'epo holds a Business Management Diploma and a BCom Accounting from the National University of Lesotho.
Maseabi Marageni, Head of Asset Consulting is responsible for enhancing the Tailored Fund Portfolio capability within Old Mutual Wealth. With over 13 years' investment experience, she has worked at Coronation, Stanlib and Allan Gray as a Fund Manager and Business Development Manager looking after boards of trustees and Key Accounts within those businesses. Through her hands on approach and passion for investing she gained the experience in dealing with model portfolios for the high-net worth advisers hence her move to Old Mutual Wealth to enhance our new capability.
Michael is a member of the OM m|m investment team that is responsible for the management of all OM m|m investment strategies. Michael's role primarily involves the asset class and manager research responsibilities for South African equity, South African listed property and Global listed property. As a member of the investment team, Michael's responsibilities also involve participation in the investment team decision-making process around manager selection and asset allocation decisions across asset classes and strategies.
Michael has a BBusSc (Hons) degree in Actuarial Science, has the FRM certification and is a CFA charterholder and has nine years industry experience.
